Flood Watch
244 PM PDT Mon Oct 18 2004
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a
* Flood Watch for flash flooding in the Waterfall burn area
* 10 am PDT to 8 PM PDT Tuesday evening.
A strong Pacific storm will bring a chance for heavy rain over the
Waterfall fire area on Tuesday. On Sunday the burn area received
approximately one inch of rain. Runoff from the heavy rain caused a
debris flow that blocked a drainage ditch in the Kings Canyon area.
Additional rainfall on saturated ground could cause debris flows and
a potential for flash flooding near creeks and drainage areas.
Residents near drainage areas and creeks in the Waterfall area should
be prepared for the possibility of flash floods on Tuesday. Stay
tuned to media outlets for additional statements from the National
Weather Service.
