Special Weather Statement
430 am PST sun Nov 28 2004

...Record low temperatures expected tonight and again Monday night...

Strong high pressure will build into the Great Basin area today in
the wake of Saturdays cold front. Clearing skies tonight along with
light winds and a fresh snow cover will result in low temperatures
dropping to record levels in many areas of western Nevada and the
Sierra. Some of the coldest temperatures for the past several years
are expected as readings drop into the single digits tonight and
Monday night in many valley locations. High Mountain valleys and
other typically cold locations will see temperatures drop below
zero. Daytime high temperatures will struggle just to reach the
freezing mark today and Monday.

For Reno...record low temperatures include 5 degrees Monday morning
set in 1975...and 8 degrees Tuesday morning set back in 1922.

Motorists should continue to monitor NOAA Weather Radio or
commercial television and radio for the latest weather information.
