Attention Amateur Operators!
Do you use or do you think you will be using any bare 14Ga hard drawn
copper antenna wire in the near future, like within the next couple years.
If not please read on anyway. With the advent of Radio Shack no longer
carrying this antenna wire, if we want to get it, then we would have to
mail order it, with shipping costs, and then the wait. If you want it
locally right here in northern Nevada then we must all pull together and do
something.
What I would like you to do is very simple and only takes a minute. I have
been working with a wire and cable outfit in Sparks NV for nearly two years
trying to get them to carry this product. They have agreed but only if
enough Hams get together and give them a call asking for this product. Even
if you do not use antenna wire please call anyway and let them know that
it's a good thing to have in stock. If they agree to carry this wire they
will stock it in a very large quantity to where anyone could go in and get
right on the spot any amount that you may need.
In other words, if you wanted a couple hundred feet, well no problem or if
you are planning on putting up a five hundred foot long wire or even larger
loop, all you would have to do is just ask. Need ten thousand feet, they
would have it in stock. Say you want to put up a 160 meter dipole, order
three hundred feet and then just ask them to cut it in the middle for ya,
how much easier can that be.
Oh the cost, you want to know how much? O.K., try this on for size, how
about $.089 cents per foot. The only catch would be they have a $20.00
dollar in house minimum. BUT! that $20.00 bucks will get you approx. 225
feet. Too much you say, well you can always go in with a friend, or donate
what you do not use to a club or Silver Springs - Silver Stage High School
is in the "Big Project".
So Please call Silver State Wire & Cable and ask that they would carry this
item, it would mean so much to so many just to be able to walk into a
business right here in North-West Nevada and get what you want, no more 70
foot pieces to try and splice. So give em' a call at Silver State Wire &
Cable 356-8969 or drive on in to 625 Spice Island Dr. Sparks, Nv.. right
across the street from the Indoor Ice Rink. They are on the right hand side
as soon as you pull into the driveway.
Please tell them AL the Silversmith sent'cha and be sure to send this
notice along to any other Radio Operators that you know in the area, thanks,
Tight Lines & 73's, Al (N7RAA)
