Amateur radio station WX7RNO at the National Weather Service Office in Reno
is now active to take any reports of severe weather from spotters in the
Reno CWFA. Frequencies being monitored are:
* 146.610 - / P.L. 123.0 (Primary - Northwest Nevada Areas)
* 146.655 - / P.L. 131.8 (Mono Co. CA)
* 147.210 + / P.L. 123.0 (Tahoe/Sierra, Lassen Plumas Cos.)
* 145.450 - / P.L. 123.0 (Lovelock/Carson Sink)
Operator may also contact the station via packet. Connect to RNO node and
type talk to enter conference, or connect to mailbox WX7RNO-1 to leave
message.
Areas of concern at present are the Quincy/Crescent Mills/Genesee areas and
Lahontan Reservoir. Although no storm activity is presently occurring in
the Lahontan area, it is surrounded by areas of convergence and potentially
lies within the outflow boundaries of other storms; so, this area currently
appears favorable for development later in the evening. Spotters observing
severe weather are encouraged to report their observations to the Reno
Forecast Office in accordance with standard reporting criteria utlizing
telephone (spotter information numbers) or via amateur radio on the
frequencies listed.
