A SKYWARN weather reporting drill is scheduled for Wednesday, June 25,
during Lightning Safety Awareness Week, which is the last full week in
June. This will be a general communications exercise centered on weather
reporting; all EMCOMM operators are encouraged to participate (weather
spotters and others). The current plan for the drill can be viewed at:

http://renoskywarn.org/Summer03.htm

In advance of this drill, operations training will be conducted at the
National Weather Service Amateur Radio Station on Tuesday, June 24 from
6:30 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. Operators will be trained on use of the SKYWARN
report/communications logging software, packet radio operations using the
equipment at the station, and functions available on our computer
workstation. There is a definite need for more operators trained and
practiced in the use of amateur station WX7RNO equipment, and this
function is not limited to licensed hams; non-hams can assist as well. So,
please plan to attend and participate in this training so that you know
how to use all the tools available when called on to operate the station.
