1st. item of business..Weekly SATERN Net
It was decided by all present to revamp the net. Val Tompkins kc7ycx is the
new
net coordinator. Dusty kc7qof and Joe kd7qdl are net control alternates. Val
will rewrite the net preamble to reflect first the national Satern net control
format and check in. After that is complete there will be a local call for
local net business or announcements etc.

2nd. item of business..2 meter repeater
Our next project for SATERN will be a 2 meter repeater. Val kc7ycx has a
repeater. There was a discussion on where to place the repeater, at SA
headquarters? the new storage unit to be built on Timber Way? or to make it a
portable repeater unit for the field units? This is an ongoing project and
will
be reviewed at future meetings.

    3rd, item of business..generator
Bob Miller wa6mty donated a Coleman 5kw 10hp generator to the SATERN Reno
station on July 10, 2003. Now the group needs to get it in operation. A work
day to be assigned at a future date, after supplies are obtained. A thank you
to go out to Bob and his family, task assigned to D kb7jzn.

4th item of business..fund raising and special events
It was suggested that a swap event be held in the late summer or early fall.
Also suggested was a picnic for all hams in the area. A disaster Services
event
to be included with one or both. A report from D kb7jzn and Roy kc7qvo on the
aluminum can recycling ($19.75 to date).Glen kk7ih then offered his and
Juniors recycle to the group. Thank you Glen and Junior.

    5th item of business..classes
There will be disaster preparedness classes for all Satern members to be
given by
Alex King Director for Disaster Services for the Salvation Army and specially
prepared classes in disaster services for radio operators by Paul Cavnar nn7b.
It is suggested that radio classes be initiated for new hams and upgrading
hams
on a needed basis. If we get enough people wanting a class we will form one
for
them.

6th item of business..Disaster Teams revamp
Item tabled for future..not enough members present to form new teams. This
needs to be done before Nov.

*notes...Glen kk7ih reminded us about Doug kc7msx who will put in a
wireless
internet system in the Satern radio room. Doug was unable to attend the
meeting
but put up a demo of his system at Field Day. We will obtain a report from
Doug
at a later date. Thank You Doug!
