High Wind Advisory
445 am PST Thu Feb 7 2002

...High wind watch for this afternoon through this evening...
southwest winds will increase ahead of an approaching coldfront
today. By this afternoon...southwest winds of 20-40 mph are
expected over much of the area. Gusts to 80 mph or more are
possible over the higher elevations of the Sierra and gusts to 60
mph are likely down the lee slopes and in wind prone locations at
lower elevations. This includes the Highway 395 corridor through
western Nevada to Lassen County.

Persons in the watch area should secure wind sensitive items or
equipment. Travel will be hazardous in high winds...especially for
high profile vehicles. If you will be traveling in northeast
California and or western Nevada this afternoon and evening...reduce
speed and anticipate sudden gusts and possible blowing dust.

event on NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite news outlet.
