Fortunately the April Meeting does not fall on the 1st of the month this time so we have a bit more time to get our "ducks in a row". The meeting will be on Tuesday April 5th at the normal place and time. I have invited Parke Slater N4KFT, a member of the team from DDXG and CVCC that operated TI5N during the recent ARRL DX SSB contest, to present a picture show of the operation. Hopefully he can make it on that date and is checking his schedule. If there is a change I'll let you know.

I suggest we set Tuesday March 29th as a deadline for any input to the News Letter. Personally, I need contest results from members for the ARRL DX contest both CW and Phone as well as VAQP results. Here's what I have:
ARRL DX CW all to PVRC
W4PM 1,244 Q’s - 409 Mults - 1,526,388 points
KG4W 804 Q’s - 364 Mults - 877,968 points
K4OSO 244 Q’s - 128 Mults - 93,696 points
NW4V 174 Q’s - 131 Mults - 68,382 points
In addition K2WK and N3UA participated with the guys at NR4M which posted an outstanding Multi- Multi score of over 12,000,000 points! NR4M 6,742 Q’s – 605 Mults – 12,158,685 points!

ARRL DX SSB for CVCC local club entry
Station	Class	QSO's	Mult's	Points
W4HZ	M/S 1325	411	1,630,026
K4WNW	M/S 989	354	1,050,318
KG4W	SOHP (a)	721	333	719,280
N4DWK	SOHP (a)	586	303	532,674
WS4WW	SOHP (a)	?	?	473,244
W4PM	SOHP (a)	265	166	131,970
N3UA	SOHP (a)	286	153	131,274
W4HJ	SOHP (a)	100	83	24,900
				       ---------
		approx total 4,693,686

In addition Paul had the following which went to PVRC:
W4PFM	SOHP (a)	524	256	401,664
Of course members of DDXG and CVCC operated at TI5N and made a BIG score.

VAQP
Call	Category	Q's	Mult	Score
W4PM	SO AB CW HP	485	121	120,653
W4PFM	SO AB MIX ?	386	118	48,790
KG4W	SO AB MIX HP	295	83	40,340
There must be more! I worked K4OSO, WU4G, W4MYA and WA4PGM and maybe there were others? With only these few entries we have no chance of a repeat in winning the club award! I must appologize to Jonathan for not going to his place for a M/S effort but I wanted to try for a 3-peat on the award for High Power CW only in this contest. This will be my last attempt at that and I will do multi/operations in the future. QSO parties are becoming more work than fun due the limited number of QSO's possible, especially on CW only. Most of the big time contest ops were in the RDXC and the RTTY contests during the the VAQP weekend!

REMEMBER the contest scores above will be used as part of the calculation to determine the CVCC CONTEST CHAMPION for 2011!

If you have any information for the News Letter get it to George. How about pictures of contest operations or stories good and bad about your experience in the contests?

Has anything happened in your ham radio life that would be of interest to the group? New rigs, antennas or plans for such? Do you have anything for sale or swap or have radio needs that perhaps a member of the coub could fill. Get the info to George!

REMEMBER the April meeting is election night for 2011-2012 year. The current officers are all standing for re-election but we will entertain nominations from the floor!

The PICNIC is coming up in May. Last year it was held on Saturday May 22nd. We need to set a date for this year. Check your calendars and be ready with your input. Bob NK4H reports he has secured permission to use our normal Picnic site again this year. Let's try to select a date on which it does not rain! The last two years that shelter has come in very handy.

Field Day is upcoming and we need to start planning. I've sent in the insurance renewal premium and requested the required insurance certificate for Henrico County. Once it's received I'll foward it to the county along with their form. I have received permission for the club to use Short Pump park again pending the receipt by the county of the required certificate and form.

If there is anything else we need to discuss at the meeting let me know. At times I seem to develop CRS short for "Can't remember STUFF"!

Puck W4PM
