Big Dog? Little Pistol? You can be a winner too! Do you feel intimidated by
contesters that you don't join in the fun? My secret is to set a goal for
myself as only you know your limits. My goal for every contest is 60/hr,
that's 1 contact per minute. If you set a goal you'll work towards it and
one day you'll achieve success. If 60 is to much try 30 that's 1 contact
every 2 minutes. Maybe your goal is to work 100 countries, or all 50 states,
you don't have to win the WORLD to have fun. Setup a little competition
between you and your friends of equal skills and have a ball.
W4MYA is looking for ops for CQWW SSB coming up Oct. 29&30, this is a great
opportunity to operate a world class station, meet and greet friends of
CVCC, and get YOUR feet wet. You can contact Bob at
rsmorris at nelsoncable.com, I'm sure he'll welcome your visit.
November Sweepstakes is another good opportunity to get your feet wet.
You'll run into a lot of good operators in this one but don't let their
speedy contacts discourage you. Work a contest at YOUR pace, a seasoned
contester will recognize your skills and welcome your contact by adjusting
their speed. Again set YOUR goal, the ARRL recognizes people who makes 100
contacts with a commemorative pin available for order.
PVRC is looking to come back and win club competition this year and YOUR
score counts whether small or large. Points are points and they will be
welcomed, how about working toward 50,000 points, making 100 contacts, 50
states, 80 sections, etc... If you don't want to operate is your station
available for someone else to operate a day and maybe use your call?
I guess that's all I had to say, I hope all of you will have a wonderful
contest season. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. It's
unfortunate that I won't be a MYA's for CQWW this year as I'm scheduled for
work related training in San Antonio that week but have arranged to operate
from K5NA's. We'll doing a Multi-Multi effort so look for us on all bands
and say hi.
73,
Kyle
