Subject: [PVRC] Sweepstakes 2005 - Are you ready?
Dear PVRC Sweepstakes Enthusiasts;
By now I hope many of you are aware that we entering the 2005 November
Sweepstakes competition with great excitement and high goals. It's going to
take a major effort if we are going to defeat our friends in SMC and NCCC,
since they are already aware of our intentions this year.
Some summary statistics:
SMC beat us by about 30% last year, and
NCCC just about doubled our score.
I am very enthusiastic about the positive feedback I have received to date
about our increased club effort this year, and I am grateful that Ty, K3MM
has been helping with the operational logistics of this contest.
I am in the process of contacting PVRC leaders and chapter presidents to
coordinate the communication of this effort and find out who might need
help, or a place to operate, or who has a station available.
I will also discuss this "Highly Motivated Operator" topic - that subject
has been bantered around the reflector about a month ago, and I am pleased
to announce that the ARRL has confirmed that this tactic is definitely
within the scope and spirit of the rules.
The November Sweepstakes has a motivation plan for recognition and rewards -
it is described in the October newsletter and it is a replay of the Live
Wire Awards created by PVRCers for the 2001 competition. The other
enhancement in sweepstakes award points is that folks operating from
multiple locations (i.e. the Highly Motivated Operators) will get PVRC 5
million point credit for both efforts.
Of course many of us are also getting ready for the CQWW contest - coming up
in less than two weeks!
73,
Jim Nitzberg WX3B
