What about Philo Farnsworth? He wasn't 9 years old when he invented "image
dissector" or first TV... but he was well on his way at 9 years old.. At 16
he invented TV.. No tests.. No Certifications.. We need more "little" hams
getting into this hobby.. Regardless of how they pass the test, radio is
the gateway to a lifetime of STEM type learning and exploration.
FWIW, there are tons of "Extra Class" Hams that have no clue or real
understanding of any of the theory on the test. The challenge with RF is
that no two people grasp/understand the theory in the same manner. Some
require a more applied approach, and others just stick to the math.
