Thanks for that, Steve. I have the smaller Honda EU2000i, and I use a
similar improvised method. I take my big, wheeled plastic recycling
bin, empty it, and tip it on its side, with the hinged lid opening
sideways. I put the generator into this, exhaust side facing out. I
push the generator in far enough so that the falling rain or snow won't
touch it. I tie the lid all the way open to provide air and let out
exhaust.
You can also do this with a large square or rectangular garbage can.
During hurricanes, I lash the axle of the bin to the railing of my deck
to prevent the bin from blowing away.
