Hi folks --
This email is a heads up for planning.
As a cold front moves very slowly southeast toward the region, abundant
moisture from the remnants of the tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico
is forecast to move slowly north to northeast along this front toward
our local area.
Although the chance for showers and thunderstorms will increase late
Sunday, mainly west and north of NYC, a higher chance of more widespread
heavy showers and thunderstorms is forecast from late Monday, Labor Day
through Tuesday.
Although forecast uncertainty is quite high regarding where and when the
heaviest rain will fall, there is some forecast confidence that narrow
bands of heavy rain will develop along and just east of this front. At
this time, the most vulnerable areas appear to be west and north of NYC
including Northeast NJ, the Lower Hudson Valley and into southwest CT.
As always, please stay tuned to your latest NWS forecasts.
Thanks
