[CTSARA] Cystic Fibrosis Cycle For Life Results

SARA and GNARC, working together, today provided communications for the
Cystic Fibrosis CF Cycle For Life Event.

The event required the use of both the Norwalk and Danbury repeaters, and
the CARA club was very generous in giving us use of the Danbury repeater for
today.



The event organizers (the CT Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) told
us afterwards that they had brought in about $30K for the Foundation.  They
also told us that they used to run a much larger event that was bringing in
$50K or $60K, but had been forced by their national organization to reduce
the size of the event due to concerns about their being able to support the
riders on the road.  They only recently found out about the possibility of
using amateur radio for communications (about a month ago) and were
overwhelmed by how well it was able to serve them.  They believe that with
kind of communications we can provide, they will be able to go back to the
national organization and get permission to ramp up the size of the event in
future years.
