We didn't just "do better" than last year. Based on preliminary numbers
from the logging software, we blew the barn doors off

3A Operation (W1EE)
--------------------------------
Last year: 1742 phone QSOs, 533 CW and digital QSOs

This year: 1850+ phone QSOs, 650+ CW and digital QSOs

GOTA (K1FC)
---------------------
Last year: 196 phone QSOs, 55 digital QSOs

This year: 500+ phone QSOs, 65+ digital QSOs

In fact, we maxed out on points and QSOs from the GOTA tent.

About the only goal we didn't accomplish was a satellite QSO, and we missed
that because we were too busy with everything else we were doing.

More importantly (from my perspective) is that we got more SARA members on
the air than last year, had more guests in total than last year, had more
guest operators in the GOTA tent than last year, and had more under 18
operators than last year (including an 11 year old who passed his general
class exam at our last VE session). At least three of the non-hams who
operated GOTA last year are now licensed club members who operated in the 3A
operation. We had a couple of newer hams/new members who came up for "...
an hour or two ..." and wound up staying for 16+ hours each. We also had
two inactive/past members take part in the activities, both of whom put in a
substantial number of hours. One of them hadn't been on HF in at least 5 or
6 years.

Aside from the Hour and the Advocate running our press release (something
the Advocate hasn't done in years), the club was the subject of a very nice
article in the Hour this past Friday. In addition, one of our tents was the
other side of a QSO that was being broadcast live on television down in West
Virginia.

I think it's fair to say that people really enjoyed themselves, and it's
also fair to say that Ernest and John Sabini kicked up the food a couple of
notches.

Hat's off to Terry Martin for an incredible job coordinating Field Day, and
thanks to all of you who participated. We'll tabulate the numbers and
figure out the points as quickly as possible.
