You don't want to know.
Oh, okay. The good news is that Irene has shifted slightly west. The NWS
forecast now shows it hitting Greenwich head on instead of hitting Stamford
head on. Which is sort of like saying "I fell off the 102nd floor of the
Empire State Building and not the 103rd floor".
Maybe the shift means that it's going to decide to follow the prediction of
the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Lab model, which shows it passing well to our
west. That would be amusing because that model is done by a bunch of Fluid
Dynamics Engineers and not meteorologists. The meteorologists hate that
model, especially because it has the disturbing habit of being right more
often than an single model done by meteorologists. Even though it's more
accurate than an single meteorology model, it still a very low success rate.
We will need people after the hurricane passes. We've been saying that we
want a shot at proving that we can do things for the City. This is our
chance -- please don't blow it because we won't get another if we blow this
one.
73s
Jon
P.S. Next forecast update is scheduled for 11am
