Curt (W1FSM) asked me to forward this regarding the interference problem on the
New Canaan repeater over the past few days. He wanted me to especially stress
the fact that it was solved with amicable communications and not threats:
Please pass this along to Jon QBZ, and Luis and Bill IFY, many thanks to all you
guys for your help. I heard from the fellow today and we discussed the problem
and he agreed to immediately change the PL frequency to stop keying up the New
Canaan repeater. I offered to help him find a 'clearer' frequency for their
local usage. This is resolved with an amicable communications and solution for
immediate and a longer time. These guys are just too 'new' and don't really
understand coverage areas of repeaters and that the coverage area includes both
the repeater transmitter coverage BUT also is the repeater's receiver coverage
too.... We all live and learn and I want to thank all you guys for your
help.. Great job and much appreciated, If I missed anyone in particular I
apologize, but I do want all of you guys to know that this is a definite example
of two major things: 1) working together to find an interfering signal on a
repeater input, and 2) exercising the capability to listen on the input to the
repeater to try to locate where the signal may be originating.
Again, many thanks to all
Curt W1FSM
