Hi Folks,

It's less than a month to the Bennett Cancer Center Ride and we need to firm
up participation.

We need at least eight people -- one each for the three rest areas, one each
for the mobile vehicles, and two at the base station in downtown Stamford.

Each participant will need the following equipment:

- A 2 meter 1/2 wave mobile antenna for each vehicle, preferably a mag
mount. Note that those little short 12" or 15" antennas just will not do
the job. I have a 38" mag mount antenna that I can donate to the cause,
which means that we need at least two more.

- Preferably a 2 meter 1/2 wave mobile or equivalent for each of the rest
areas. Alternatively, a 1/2 wave on a tripod or a J-Pole or something like
that.

- 25 watt or higher mobile transceivers for each of the vehicles and for
each of the rest areas. Based on our testing, 5 watt HTs just will not do
the job -- either from the rest areas or in the vehicles.

It is expected that each of the vehicles will have a 12v power source
accessible from a cigarette lighter jack -- thus those of you in the
vehicles will need a power cable that can plug into a cigarette lighter.

The rest stops may or may not have have AC power. Therefore, those of you
at the rest stops will either need batteries or will need to plug into your
cars.

Please contact me as soon as possible (respond to this via the reflector or
jperelst at yahoo.com) to tell me if you're going to participate, what type of
equipment you can bring, and your preferred role (rest stop, vehicle, or
base station).

This is one of the premiere charity events in Stamford and is a major
opportunity for us to demonstrate our capabilities (not to mention get some
real-life practice). We've received excellent publicity for our performance
the last two years and we would like to continue that streak.

Thanks

Jon, KB1QBZ
