Greetings all,

You may remember hearing some time ago that I was working on new features
for the SARA website. I'm now happy to announce that at least one of them
is ready- the SARA Web Forum.

It's online now at http://www.ctsara.org/forum

A forum (also known as a message board or bulletin board) is a place for
having a discussion on the SARA website. QRZ.com and eham.net both have
active forums, so if you've ever participated in the discussion there this
will be familiar. If not, a forum is similar to the mailing list, but is
far more flexible and uses our website instead of email. When you hit the
link above, you'll first want to register (the link is in the upper left).
Your username should be your callsign.
Once you're registered and your email address is validated, go back in and
click the SARA Forums entry. There you will see the discussions (threads)
in progress. If you click one, you'll see all the messages in that
discussion and (if you're registered and logged in) you can reply and add
your own message. You can start a new thread by pressing New Topic.

The advantage of a forum the ability to have multiple discussions on
different subjects to take place in a semi-public manner, without clogging
the mailing list full of discussions that not all members are interested in
or having a discussion that could be of larger interest happen in obscurity
over private email. Older discussions will stay on the forum even if
they've been inactive for a while, which can help prevent things from being
forgotten when nobody talks about them for a while. The forum will also
accept attachments (like photos, documents, videos and sound recordings) and
formatting/colors/fonts, which the mailing list can't.

Also, for those that prefer to get emails, hit the Subscribe link below the
New Topic button. You can subscribe to the whole forum or just to
individual topics, your choice.

Please let me know if you have any questions or problems...

73,
Chris KB1QXR
