Hi Folks,
Adam is having some problems getting his email into the reflector, so he
asked me to send this for him:
******
I'm looking for people who might like to take a ham radio field trip to
Sheffield Island. I'm going to bring a radio, a power source, and my
portable Yagi over there and operate from the island. We can get
recognition from IOTA (Islands On The Air) and try out the portable Yagi at
the same time.
Sheffield Island is in Long Island Sound a few miles off Norwalk. There are
tourist ferries to the island from Norwalk Harbor (cost is about $30 round
trip). I have contacted the owners of the island and they are okay with us
operating from there. The island has snack bars and bathroom facilities.
My real hope is to operate from there during the IOTA contest in late July.
I would like to go out there before then to look around and try operating
for a few hours to see what the place is like and figure out where the best
place to operate would be. Is anybody interested in taking a trip with me?
I'm thinking of going on a weekend day (Sunday preferred) in late May or
early June. The trip will take up much of the day because the ferry
schedule will leave us on the island for a couple of hours at a minimum.
If you're interested, please contact me by email at
<mailto:w1asb.adam at gmail.com> w1asb.adam at gmail.com and tell me what dates
might work for you.
Adam
