Folks, yesterday I bought a Collins 310B at the Belton, Texas Ham Expo. Looks NICE to have been manufactured around 1947. It is serial number 121 and I have no history on it. I was manufactured in 1938 and it looks much better than I do !!!!
It has, what appears to be a factory supplied modification, that is a perfectly matching plate in the upper left and a shaft going to a perfectly matched antenna loading capacitor and professional looking air dux  coil mounted vertically on the plug in socket and tapped for the bands covered from 80 mtrs to 10/11 mtrs.
It fires up and the meter is original and works. The 2E26 tube has been replaced with a 6146. I was glad to acquire it to match my 75A1, 75A2, 75A3 and 75A4 receivers.
I printed a manual from the Collins ASSOC. site, but would love to communicate with Hams who have first hand knowledge about the care of and operation of the Collins 310B and the factory suggested mods of this beautiful piece of Collins gear. Your suggestions and input based on your first hand experience with and knowdlege of the 310B and mods will be GREATLY APPRECIATED !!
PLEASE share your knowledge and suggestions regarding this JEWEL I acquired.
Thanks and 73, John, K5PGW
