If anything qualifies as a boatanchor that rig does. I had the pleasure of
installing and getting the bugs out of the early versions. Typical Collins,
the field bulletins are thicker than the manual. After a few years it became
somewhat reliable but that synthesizer was always a bear to work on.
When I went to work at National and got exposed to the Wadley Loop in the
Racal RA-17 that was in engineering and then the HRO-500 it was apiece of
cake. I own both of those radios and work on others regularly but you
probably couldnt pay me enough to tackle a URC-32!
