And since there's a US Government part number, I bet it was also used in
one of the manually tuned 1 or 2 KW linears made in the 50s. Both would
have been designed by the same people, probably advised if not designed
by Warren Bruene and Lloyd Winter, maybe Forrest Cummings.
I went to the library and downloaded a couple hundred MB of Collins
manuals so I could check the KWS-1 parts list. Soon as I convince this
computer to read my thumb drive again. But that IS in my printed KWS-1
book (4th edition, 1 Nov 1956). The schematic gives it a value of 90 uh
not 37.5 uh.
In those days the last dash numbers of a part number tended only to show
the paper size of the drawing if three digits were used. Using two
digits ignored the paper size. So the first three digits were part
class, in this case a part made by Collins, and the four middle digits
were unique to the part.
