Hi Folks,
Yes, over the years I have seen smallparts.com had an offering of
this round ball, and Collins folks wondering if they should use #BL-02 or
not.. Well.. IMHO, if you want your PTO to work correctly, and keep
working, you'll get the correct pyrex ball, not an acrylic ball
(#BL-02)thats offered. The pyrex will not wear, but acrylic, no matter how
tough it is, is still a plastic albiet a tough one.. Henry, I will look
tomorrow to see if I can get you a pyrex ball, as I said before, that are
used as ball bearings (instead of steel balls) in special bread slicers
where the rotor had to isolated from the ground frame. Here is another idea
for you that I know about.. Being where you live, if you have a Commerical
Bearing Supply house around, you could call them, and tell them what you
need. You would be surprised what Bearing Companies stock.. They surely
stock steel balls of all sizes, and I'm willing to bet you can also get
glass/pyrex balls too.. Remember, the end of that leadscrew must be
isolated from the round endcap, so a BB, or anything steel isn't gonna
work.. Anyway, just my 2cts, FWIW.. Tony, WB8MLA
