Don't know about collins but I had a KW 2000E with a Kokusai 455 filter.
The KW 2000 series was the RAF/RCAF version of the KWM2.

The main reason for low sensitivity in these rigs when they got older was
the filter insides turned to gung (like old foam gone bad).  You could
measure the insertion loss as recalled in a RAD-COM (RSGB Magazine) article
in May 1999.   Replacing the filter often made the old transceivers sit up
and talk.
