Thanks, Dan, but this foam I am talking about is not inside the filter, it 
is under only the filter cover.  It appears to be only to keep the filters 
in the sockets under "harsh" environments, but I wanted to find out if this 
is so before just leaving it.  My only other thought was if there was any 
"insulation" value, keeping the filters a more constant temperature???  Just 
a thought.  I had thought about stuffing it with cotton, or just some foam 
that Wal-Mart sells for reupholstering furniture.
