[Collins] Additional R-388 Data

As to where many of the R-388 went I thought that I might mention what a  
neighbor told me over 20 years ago. He was a Company commander of an  
Intelligence Company in Viet Nam which had civilians monitoring  V C   communications.    
    
    Visiting my QTH one day while I was in the shack his  interest was 
gathered by my R-390a and R-388.      With  a little smile on his face while I was 
using the R-388 he mention that  while in Nam he received over a 100 new 
R-390a's and ordered to destroy an equal  number of the R-388 and spread the remains 
in the river nearby.   I  wonder how many met there fate this way.
   I also heard  from a fellow stationed in Key West, Fla  that the Navy did 
like-wise with S -line and equipment in the deep surrounding  the base there.  
 I guess that what keeps the prices and demand  up.      Jim-K4DEE
