[Collins] Best receiver?

Funny, I was going to recommend the 51S1, which I have here, if you can get
a good one (mine may be for sale soon). It is stable, sensitive enough,
dead nuts accurate, and has a real product detector for SSB/CW. The AM
filtering may not be as pure as some like, but I htink it's good enough for
average SWL-ing. Some folks have talked about using a 75S3 ham receiver
with extra crystal packs for SWL coverage. I had an R-388 once and dumped
it shortly after getting it (poor SSB). The R-390 is excellent for AM/CW
reception (I have two of them) , but does require some heavy lift and other
skills to get it operational. That's my 2 cents worth. N4BE
