Since C1 is tuning the filter choke to 120Hz, you might want to be a
little closer than substituting a .033 for a .05. Paper type capacitors
have a far closer tolerance than electrolytics and that substitution is
out of tolerance.
While the Nichicon capacitors are cheap and small, do they have the same
ripple current ratings as the physically larger Sprague units?
Physically small electrolytics can tend to have lower ripple current
ratings because they have a smaller package surface to dissipate the
heat. And The Sprague TVA family (with Collins part numbers) were
sometimes used as original parts, I've have few failures with them over
the decades other than capacitors that were not powered up for a decade
or two. I'll buy TVA instead of Nichicon if they will fit the space.
Shipping and labor are a much greater cost than the price difference in
the capacitors.
