I omitted. the WEIGHTED knob was always a standard feature for the 51s-1..
due to the Veeder Root counter and the fact that it's PTO was turning a full
Mhz as well as the small gear box with the counter, thus the convential non
weighted knob just didn't have the HEFT that the 51s-1 needed. so the
engineers made the finger hole knob and didn't attach the regular plastic
skirt, but instead used a chunk of machined brass in place of the plastic
skirt, but yet retained the exact same outward appearance.. mac/mc

However, I recently received a piece of Collins 51S-1 propaganda that showed
an early 51S1 sans dial drag. It so happens that I think my 51S-1 is an
early version (#277) and has NO dial drag.
