[Collins] 75S3-C Power switch problem.

 A flash and a bang when I turned on the rx a few nights ago- then nothing.
Mains fuse is undoubtedly gone, but no idea of the damage as yet- not had
time to get it on the bench.  I'm interested to hear if there's anything I
should know about before I start. Is this a common problem and if so what
measures should I take to help prevent it happening again? I'm assuming at
this stage I'll have to replace something.  Are there any cunning schemes to
allow removal of the mains voltage from the wafer switch but still use the
wafer contacts (cleaned up) to switch a lower voltage/current?
All comments, suggestions etc most welcome.
