[Collins] 51S1 project correction/need help

Depending on how much the oscilator radiates, you might need a pickup loop.
Take a few turns of insulated wire (or even a clip lead) and solder it to a
length of coax.
Attach the coax to the antenna terminal of the receiver.
Dangle the loop in around the crystal and tube.

You should see a "carrier" at 17.5 Mc.

SInce you're using a receiver, I don't beleive that I'd touch any tube
socket pins with the loop.
Lest you end up with another receiver to fix.
