You are correct. The single-sheet, fold-out schematic, and the "before"
diagram in SB-8 are both in error. That error was corrected for the
five-page schematic found in the two later 8th and 9th editions. If you want
to see the corrected "before" diagram, there is one place it was ever
illustrated. See page 7-9, arrow #26, in the 8th or 9th editions of the
KWM-2/2A manual.
