[Collins] I got nailed!

I just received a "maybe I can repair it" radio, for a premium price. 
 It's first problem, is the long angle aluminum bar that the band switch 
changes, doesn't move.  In order to get to it, I gotta drop front panel. 
 Trouble is even though I've taken all of the  4:1 mechinism off,  the 
the brass "ring" gear won't budge.  Oh, it'll spin on the shaft, but 
won't pull off.  Tomarrow I'll go buy a small gear puller, but I know 
the thin brass gear will be destroyed.  I know the jerk (my opinion) 
that sold me this 'a4 new it cause the screws were all loose.  
     Anyone out there been here before?  Does anyone have the ring gear 
or know where one might be found?  I assume that is what usually happens 
to these vineers.   Any help appreciated.  73, Ron
