[Collins] Cooling your Collins

At ambient room temperature (68-70F) the Collins S-line does not need
additional cooling. If there is sufficient room around the cabinet,
convection cooling is enough. The exception would be extended key-down
operation (RTTY, SSTV) or mounting in a rack or other confined space.

Make sure that the LV is within spec. High LV will create additional heat
and shorten tube life.

It does not take a lot of air movement to cool off the radios. A simple
12VDC or 115VAC muffin fan will do a great job. If you use a desk fan to
cool the operator, aim it at the radios also.

For those who want their radios to run ice cold, take a tip from the
military. In hot, humid climates (SE Asia), they mounted squirrel cage
blowers on the rear panel (over the two circular holes). You will need four
for the S-line and two for the KWM-2.
The racket will impress visitors.
