[Collins] UPGRADING THE 32S-1

I have a 32S-1 and am considering updating it per the article in the
December 1978 issue of Ham Radio, "Updating the Collins 32S-1". I am a CW
man, and it sounds like the 32S-3 is a better CW rig than the 32S-1. These
changes are essentially aimed at making the 32S-1 a better CW transmitter.
These mods require some new parts which were available from Collins 24 years
ago, but I don't know if the parts are still available. The article I refer
to says I would need part numbers CPN 259-1628-000 (EMMISSION SWITCH) and
CPN 376-2648-0000 (DUAL POT and MIC GAIN SWITCH). Has anyone made these
mods? Does anyone know where I can get the parts? Is it worth the cost and
effort or would it be better just to buy a 32S-3? I also found the articles,
"Improved Stability for the 32S Transmitter" (May 1979 Ham Radio), "S-Line
QSK Noise" (March 1982 Ham Radio), and "Syllabic VOX System for the Collins
S-Line" (October Ham Radio). These also look like worthwhile mods. Any
comments on these? Are there any other mods I should know about? All
comments and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
