There can be a couple problems with those ceramic trimmers. The most
common, is that the shaft looses contact with the clip underneath. That
can often be improved with DeOxit and some turning of the shaft. The
other problem can be that the ceramic parts separate or stick. Then
replacement is necessary.

Those who keep replacement parts for S-line will have suitable
replacement trimmers. I think those were made by Erie originally. Today
every maker of ceramic trimmers thinks much smaller physical sizes so
they don't fit.

Normally mica capacitors give little trouble. Far less trouble than
paper and electrolytic capacitors. That is not to say that mica
capacitors can't be bad, just its not a certain event like the paper and
electrolytic capacitors.
