A kit such as from Down East Microwave will speed up home brew
considerably. There have been circuits published in ARRL VHF and regular
handbooks for decades. All workable. There have been circuits published
in DUBUS magazines and RSGB VHF handbooks too.

Don't discount the SB-110A from Heathkit. It can work well, with a
modification to the product detector that I discovered. Its documented
on some 6m mods page on the internet. Mine hears quite well, and is
heard well. The designer had been at Collins so it has some Collins
heritage. The VFO in mine needs a good cleaning of the variable
capacitor wiper or else a pigtail across that wiper. Getting into the
prepackaged VFO is a pain with it in the radio.

The TT 1208 is the least expensive 6m transverter kit or assembled in
the present market. Makes fiddling with it somewhat profitable.
