In the process of looking for a new style relay to use in the 32V series I
counted relay sets for duplication. On the schematic I am looking at the K301
relay connections and see wiring points 1,2 and 3,4 being all wired in series. I
would expect to see contacts paralleled for amperage considerations but not
series connected. To me this is equates to only one set of the correct amperage
being needed.
The contacts in question fire the primary of the HV tranny which is fused at
5 amp. The contacts look to be a 5 amp each set. It has been suggested that
this arrangement would be for arc suppression.
My question of this is that the contacts would have to hit at the same time
or wouldn't you have a single set making anyway? Many of these stock relays
have to be pretty worn to the point that they wouldn't be moving at the same time
anymore.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thank you,
Bob AB3L
