Jim, I don't think its going to take 2 KV across the tube the light it
up. Probably 100 volts though and lots of current. I could probably hunt
up an 866 and supplies and try it but I'm not that interested compared
to other things occupying my work bench at the moment. I think the
lighting is from forward drop, not reverse drop.
For sure with a 2KV transformer and 1 KW load the tube will light well.
It might be more effective to light the tube with an electric field, but
that's getting esoteric.
