Hi Uwe, All:
There is an article that was put together by WA6VVL regarding this problem. In a past issue of ER, he describes the use of replacing the choke with a relay to stave off the high voltage arcing on the 516F2. I suspect that it has to do something with the "angular position" of the line voltage during t=0 (time when switch is turned on). One could probably eliminate the problem using those zero seeking relays. Anyone else care to chime in on this problem? Thanks. Cal, N6KYR.

It's a great reflector here and may be later on, I will
say 'need something' again during repair my 32S-3.
Switching on the 516F-2 generates vy high plate voltage
(1200V) strong noise hum etc - suppose a choke is out.
I must take a deeper look but need time, sri.
Proposition 26 hours per day will be much better - hi.
Best wishes to all
