[Collins] 32s-3/75s-3b transceive

connecting these two together for transceive operation.
connected j2-xtal osc. input on trans. to j1 xtal osc output on receiver and connected j8 vfo input on trans. to j2 vfo output on receiver.
question... taped to cover of receiver and transmitter were two dummy load or shorting plugs...can find nothing about them in either manual.
the center jack j6 on the transmitter slug rack top is connected to the schielded cable p1  which comes from the chassis behind the crystal board. the only other open jack is j7 should this jack be left open? or should there be a shorting plug inserted? j7 is trans crystal osc.
don't want to make a dumb mistake ,but cant find the info in the manuals.
any help at this point would sure make me feel better.
