That's a very good case in favor of checking out your local and regional
hamfests instead of using eBay. Here in New Jersey, eBay is strangling the
hamfests and several have disappeared. But, at a hamfest, you can "kick the
tires" and inspect the equipment that you are buying. On eBay and other
online auctions, you can easily end up with a box of junk.
The hottest places in Hell should be reserved for those who think they know
more than the professional engineers at Collins and who butcher a piece of
fine radio equipment with modifications.
