Arrived safely back at Sidman, PA at about 11 PM on Saturday evening.
First of all, I want to thank all of you who took the time to attend the
Collins Forum on Friday morning. Wish that I had known that a projector was
there to run a power point presentation. Well, next year, I will have a
power point presentation on CD.
For those who did not attend, the weather was so-so. Not very warm and it
rained on Friday late. I am glad that I packed two jackets! Came back with
my face sunburned from exposure on Saturday; however, the temperature did
not get out of the 50's. It was a Dayton where hot coffee was much in
demand.
Lots of Collins equipment. Saw several KWS-1's and 75A-4's. Nothing
exceptional and the prices on the equipment were typically high. Did not
see much Collins sold but then again I did not stay for the Sunday
countdown! Did not see one 32V transmitter. Did see several 312B-3
speakers. One gentleman there had a very nice 75S-3C and 32S-3 with station
console, etc. with an asking price of $2,000. Very nice equipment I must
say. Did not see anyone selling Collins parts or what I call junker units.
But did see lots of 2 meter handhelds! I did take some pictures of those
selling Collins and will have them on the CRA website in the Collins album
this week hopefully.
Of course, lots of friends who I had not seen since the last Dayton.
Barry, W3AFH, as always was his usual good natured self standing behind a
table loaded with lots of Collins. I did notice that there were many
outdoor vendor spots that were empty. Probably some of the guys saw the
weather report and elected not to attend.
So that is it - another Dayton and 365 more days to go for Dayton 2002. See
you there.
