[Collins] KWM-2 Audio drop outs

My KWM-2 has developed a problem where the audio fades away only to return after a little bit...then it fades out again.  When it fades, only the strongest signals are barely audible.  Any ideas why the audio might be fading in and out?  The radio has worked beautifully for the last 4 years.  It has sat for about 2 months since I used it last.

Help...
