I recently had, what I thought was a decent specimen of a 51J4, restored by
Howard Mills. When I received it the other day, I had to do a "double take"
because the receiver looked like new, inside and out. And electrically, it
compares in sensitivity to a restored EAC R390A. The frequency readout is
dead on and the audio is superb.
I decided to get the matching cabinet, which I did not own previously. Next
to my 32V2 cabinet, it looks identical. I thought it a wise investment since
I have this radio on a desk and will probably never part with it.
Conclusion? Howard Mills does a top-rate job on complete restoration of the
rigs we all know and love (i.e., 51Jx, 75Ax, 32-Vx, etc.) He'll make your
"junkyard dog radio" look like new. Feel free to e-mail me with any
questions. Howard can be contacted at [email protected]
