[Collins] 30S1 ALC compatibility

I have just changed from a TS930 to an FT1000MP-MKV exciter. Whereas the 
TS930 had perfect compatibility with the 30S1 ALC, the FT1000 does not.

The initial problem seemed to be that the FT1000 has about a 30K input R, 
so I built an OPAMP buffer/attenuator but am getting strange results.

I think the main problem may be with time constants rather than level. The 
30S1 seems to occasionally put out sharp spikes of ALC which the TS930 
smoothed out, but I am having difficulty duplicating the exact smoothing 
function with my buffer.

So has anybody interfaced the 30S1 to an FT1000 and if so how, or have you 
built an interface to some other incompatible exciter and if so how?
