I have done something similar to a 312B5. The trim ring is held in by four countersunk screws: two on the top and two on the bottom. Assuming you're removing the power supply, you have to undo the four nuts fastening the four bolts. After bolt removal, that should be a piece of cake to remove trim ring. Just be careful taking it out as I have seen the fastening tabs cracked on some units.

Iam in he process of rebuilding my 312b-4 all done except the cabinet. It needs to be repainted and I can not figure how to get the plasic trim, off the cabinet front edge. If I have to, I can mask the trim but thats not a good way.I need to sand the cabinet and the trim will get scratched. If I screw the trim up is there any where in the world ,I could get another one. Iam hopeing the trim is not cemented to the cabinet edge.
Any help on this and I will be forever greatful. Thanks a head of time for any help anyone can supply.
Ps. using he new AOR DDS-2A vfo on my KWM-2A, fantastic. It brings the old collins into today. A real upgrade!!!If any one want input about the AOR/KWM drop me a note.
thanks
