Hi Hiram,
My guess is that you have something hooked up wrong. It sounds like you
have the antenna relay plugged into something other than the antenna relay
keying circuit on the exciter. If you have plugged it into something that is
causing the antenna
changeover relay in the 30L-1 to pull in when you turn it on, the results will
be exactly what you are experiencing. This may also explain why you appear to
be getting RF into the speaker or possibly the receiver is not muting if you are
using a separate receiver and transmitter. It would be helpful if we knew what
you were using for an exciter.
