[Cliffdwellers] WOW!!

Hi there,

I've been using my indoor homebrew magnetic loop for quite some time now
(I think close to a year now) from my ground floor apartment at QRP
levels and I'm very impressed with it's capabilities. You can see
pictures and a description at:

http://www.qsl.net/kr1st/magloop.htm

It's an ongoing experiment. Right now I use a different split stator
capacitor so I can tune it from 30 - 10 meters. The one in the pictures
tunes from 20 to 10 meters.

As Van indicated, PSK31 definitely is a "must try" for cliffdwellers. I
run 2.5 Watts on idle and so far I've been able to work everything I see
on the waterfall. On SSB I run 5 Watts PEP and I'm getting really close
to DXCC.

One of the features I really like about the magloop is that you can tune
out an interfering noise source almost completely. Another important
feature is that it works really well near ground level; mine is only 3
feet up.

At first I though that operating from this apartment would be virtually
impossible (I don't even have a decent patio) until I learned about
small transmitting loops.
